According to local sources, armed groups linked to Israeli-backed mercenary Yasser Abu Shabab attacked the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis. The attack occurred under the cover of Israeli surveillance drones flying above, raising fears of a coordinated effort to disable the hospital without direct Israeli involvement.

Witnesses reported repeated attempts to breach the hospital’s perimeter in recent days. Armed elements affiliated with the “Barbakh” family reportedly approached the site with quadcopter drone support.

Earlier today, vehicles belonging to Abu Shabab’s faction advanced toward the complex, also shielded by overhead drones.

The hospital is located just a few hundred meters from current Israeli military positions in Khan Younis. Observers say this proximity—and the visible drone activity—suggest Israel may be outsourcing the targeting of Nasser Hospital to local collaborators in an effort to avoid international backlash for striking the last major medical facility still operating in the Gaza Strip.

No official statement has yet been issued by Gaza’s Ministry of Health or international humanitarian agencies regarding the attack. Human rights advocates have repeatedly warned that any assault on medical infrastructure in conflict zones constitutes a potential war crime under international law.
