Iran’s Rezaei Warns Europe: “Now It’s Your Turn to Pay” for War and Terror

Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, says Europe must now pay for the war. He accuses it of cheering “war crimes” and then complaining about the cost. Europe’s energy bill has climbed sharply since the war began.

Iran’s top security official has told Europe it must now bear the cost of the war. Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, says Europe cheered Israel’s actions and is now complaining about the bill.

Rezaei posted the message in English on X on Friday, October 30. “Just yesterday, Europe took pride in the dirty work of the Zionist regime,” he wrote. “Today, it’s whining about billions the war with Iran is costing it.”

“Your Turn to Pay”

He then addressed Europe directly. “When you cheered on war crimes, did you think the fallout wouldn’t hit you, too?” he asked. He ended with: “War and terror come at a price. Now it’s your turn to pay.”

Rezaei did not name any country or say which costs he meant. He also announced no new measure against Europe. Iran International and Tasnim carried the remarks.

Europe’s Energy Bill

Europe has felt the war mainly through energy prices. The EU spent €82.7 billion on oil imports in the second quarter, up from €50.3 billion a year earlier, Euronews reported. Import volumes barely changed, so the rise reflects higher prices.

Gas is also costly. Wholesale prices briefly hit €100 per megawatt-hour this week, about triple pre-war levels, Reuters reported. EU gas storage is 75% full, down from 83% a year ago.

Brussels is responding. EU energy ministers met in Luxembourg on October 29. They backed a faster release of 42.6 million barrels of emergency oil, half of it diesel, Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen said. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has also warned that the Iran war has cost Europe over €100 billion in higher energy prices.

Who Is Rezaei

Rezaei is a former Revolutionary Guards commander. Iran International says he is also the Supreme Leader’s representative on the council, and that President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed him secretary.

Clash Report has reported that Vice President JD Vance has reportedly offered to meet Rezaei over a nuclear deal. Separately, an Iranian cleric claimed the public wants Khamenei to build a nuclear bomb.
