Officials described the terms under review as “concrete proposals,” The New York Times reported Thursday. Iran had refused to budge on the nuclear file for weeks, the officials said.
Tehran’s new willingness to re-engage signals that Qatar-led mediation has had some success, they said. The Times said the aim is to avert a return to full-blown war. No final Iranian decision was reported.
Qatar’s Mediation Track
Qatari mediators have shuttled between the sides for days. Clash Report earlier reported that mediators traveled to Tehran to discuss a draft U.S.-Iran deal, citing Reuters.
A Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson said parties were still examining proposals. “As long as the parties remain committed… there is always a glimmer of hope,” the spokesperson said.
What Remains Contested
Washington has pressed Iran on highly enriched uranium and related limits. Tehran has publicly tied broader talks to sanctions relief, frozen assets, and an end to the U.S. naval blockade.
The nuclear debate inside Iran has also hardened. Clerics and officials have pushed to revise doctrine after the war, as Clash Report reported from an earlier Times story.
U.S. forces have kept preparing for possible renewed operations, Axios reported. Mediators still seek an agreement that could restart direct talks.
