Iran Rejects Trump’s Nuclear Talks Claim

Iran’s foreign ministry dismissed President Donald Trump’s announcement that nuclear talks would restart next week, asserting no agreement exists and condemning what it called baseless speculation.
No Talks in Sight, Says Tehran
Speaking on state TV late Thursday, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said bluntly: “No agreement, arrangement or discussion has taken place regarding the initiation of new negotiations.” He warned the public not to take Trump’s comments seriously.
Trump had said earlier this week that talks could resume soon, hinting at a possible deal following the 12-day Israel-Iran war that drew U.S. military involvement.
Post-War Diplomacy Divides Iran’s Leadership
Though Iran’s president previously signaled openness to dialogue, opposition remains strong within Tehran’s political elite. The recent conflict has hardened views against engagement with Washington, complicating any diplomatic path forward.
UN Inspectors Barred
Araghchi also rejected a request by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to inspect Iranian nuclear facilities bombed during U.S. and Israeli airstrikes. He described the damage as “considerable and serious,” but ruled out hosting IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi “currently.”
On Thursday, Iran suspended all cooperation with the IAEA, accusing the agency of aiding Israel’s justification for the strikes.
