Fidan: Türkiye Will Take Radical Steps If Israel Insists on Gaza Stance

Türkiye is threatening to escalate its diplomatic response alongside Qatar and Egypt if the United States fails to force Israeli compliance with the stalled Gaza transition agreement.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Palestinian factions have met their obligations for the second phase of the arrangement.

Fidan then blamed Israel for deliberately stalling the process and refusing to take further steps.

Ankara is now demanding immediate intervention from Washington to break the deadlock.

If the U.S. refuses to utilize its leverage, the regional mediators are prepared to alter their strategic approach.

"Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt will have to take radical steps on this issue," Fidan warned.

He framed the potential escalation as an unavoidable obligation to both the Turkish public and the Palestinian population.

Board of Peace Progress

The Turkish minister assessed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is driving Israel into total international isolation.

Fidan stated that global pressure must be increased immediately to dismantle what he described as reckless policy projects.

Fidan also noted that the underlying Israeli objective was the complete expulsion of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

He stated that Türkiye partnered with Egypt and other nations to establish the Board of Peace to counter that outcome, prioritizing diplomacy and deterrence.

The coalition claims partial success in its initial phase. According to Fidan, the diplomatic bloc managed to halt the "genocide to a certain extent" and stall the total depopulation of the enclave.

Mediterranean Security Friction

Beyond Gaza, Fidan highlighted a shifting security architecture in the Eastern Mediterranean designed to contain Turkish influence.

He specifically pointed to a security pact formed by Israel, Greece, and the Greek Cypriot administration.

The trilateral agreement, established prior to the Mecca Alliance, effectively draws a strategic line through the Mediterranean.

The geopolitical boundary attempts to sever Türkiye in the north from Egypt in the south, according to Fidan.

Ankara views the objective of this Mediterranean pact as a direct regional challenge.

“Our alliance, by contrast, is not directed against any country,” Fidan stated. “It is about creating a framework for cooperation among ourselves and establishing deterrence.”

Diplomatic efforts are now underway to expand the deterrence framework, with Egypt currently reviewing the technical details of the Mecca Alliance.

Fidan described Cairo as a natural partner poised for official membership.
