A fatal explosion tore through a commercial district in central Damascus on Thursday, leaving multiple casualties near a major government institution.

The blast targeted a cafe located in the vicinity of the Syrian Palace of Justice.

According to the Syrian health ministry, the incident resulted in four fatalities. An additional eleven individuals sustained injuries during the midday attack.

Emergency Response on Al-Nasr Street

The detonation occurred specifically on Al-Nasr Street, a prominent thoroughfare in the heart of the capital.

Emergency services deployed rapidly to the scene following the detonation, according to AFP.

Ambulances navigated through heavily congested traffic, sounding their sirens, to reach the affected site and transport victims to medical facilities.

Local authorities have cordoned off the perimeter surrounding the courthouse and the targeted cafe.

Investigation Into Source

Syrian state television initially reported the incident, which was subsequently confirmed by local security officials.

The state news agency, SANA, indicated that official agencies are actively investigating the site.

Security personnel are currently working to determine the precise source and nature of the detonation.

No group has claimed immediate responsibility for the central capital attack.
