According to the ENDF statement, the operation between 25 June and 2 July resulted in 83 enemy fighters killed, 39 wounded, and 12 captured. The army added that 20 fighters surrendered, while eight other suspects were apprehended. Military officials said they seized weapons caches including 22 Kalashnikovs, 11 outdated firearms, a DShK muzzle, and more than 250 rounds of ammunition.

This offensive follows repeated claims by Army Chief of Staff Field Marshal Birhanu Jula that 90% of military operations in the region had already been completed.

Conflict Persists Despite Official Claims

Contradicting federal statements, recent reports from Fano-aligned media suggest continued armed resistance and accusations of army-led airstrikes causing civilian harm. In April, the army claimed over 300 Fano fighters were killed in a single day, raising alarm among rights observers about drone strikes and house raids.

Security analysts note that the conflict is evolving into a new phase marked by the deployment of anti-riot regional militias and local police, possibly in lieu of federal forces.
