Democrat Adam Hamilton has defeated Republican Senator Roger Marshall in Kansas, Decision Desk HQ projected. The call came at 10:48 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
The result flips a Republican-held Senate seat. Hamilton, a megachurch pastor, would be the first Democrat Kansas has elected to the Senate since 1932.
Ending a 94-Year Streak
The last Democrat Kansas elected to the Senate was George McGill of Wichita. He won a 1930 special election, then a full term in 1932, KMBC reported.
McGill lost his seat in 1938, and his term ended in early 1939. Democrats had gone 94 years without winning a Senate race in the state, according to AP.
With an estimated 78% of the vote counted, Hamilton led 54.2% to 43.0%, Decision Desk HQ tallies showed. Marshall was seeking a second term.
A Centrist Pitch in a Red State
Hamilton ran a well-funded campaign with a centrist pitch, AP reported. Democrats hoped discontent over inflation and the Iran war would carry him in a state Trump won three times.
The call follows Democratic Senate flips projected in South Carolina and Texas earlier in the night.
