In a decisive strike against Al-Shabaab, the Somali National Army’s Danab Commandos carried out a coordinated night-time operation in the Baqdaad area of the Lower Shabelle region. According to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the mission specifically targeted infrastructure used by the group to facilitate attacks and transport operations along the Shabelle River corridor.
The commandos successfully destroyed four boats that the militants relied on for moving supplies, executing ambushes, and launching stealth operations in the region. Additionally, the raid dismantled critical Al-Shabaab facilities, including attack staging areas, hideouts, and weapons storage points.
This action is part of a broader effort by Somali security forces to cripple the operational capacity of Al-Shabaab in southern Somalia. Authorities have not yet disclosed any information about militant casualties or the duration of the mission.
