A Palestinian official speaking to AFP on condition of anonymity said Hamas would now begin internal consultations among its leadership and coordinate discussions with other Palestinian factions before delivering a formal response.

The plan presented in Cairo envisions an initial 60-day truce in which hostilities would be suspended while negotiations progress. As part of the arrangement, hostages held in Gaza would be released in two stages, though further details on the timing and conditions were not disclosed. According to Palestinian officials, Hamas will consult internally with its senior leadership as well as with allied factions to assess the proposal’s implications.
