At least 12 people were killed and 52 injured over the past 24 hours in one of Russia’s largest aerial attacks against Ukraine in recent weeks. According to regional authorities and President Volodymyr Zelensky, Moscow launched 18 missiles and approximately 400 drones—nearly half of them Iranian-designed Shahed kamikaze drones—targeting cities across the country, including the capital.
Kyiv Struck Again in Back-to-Back Assaults
For the second consecutive night, Kyiv endured a sustained Russian barrage involving ballistic missiles and drones. Two people, including a 68-year-old woman and a 22-year-old police officer, were killed. Sixteen others were injured—ten of whom were hospitalized—according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Fires erupted across residential areas, a primary health center was nearly destroyed, and fuel stations were hit. A 51-year-old man was injured in the nearby Obukhiv district.
Donetsk Oblast Bears the Brunt
The heaviest civilian toll came from Donetsk Oblast, where nine civilians were killed and ten wounded. Five were killed by first-person-view (FPV) drones in Rodynske, while four died in airstrikes on Kostiantynivka.
Multiple Regions Targeted
- Kharkiv Oblast: Two men, aged 61 and 73, were injured in strikes across 11 settlements using missiles, guided bombs, and drones.
- Kherson Oblast: One killed and 14 injured in attacks on residential buildings, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed.
- Mykolaiv Oblast: Three employees were injured at an agricultural enterprise targeted by ballistic missiles.
- Sumy Oblast: Four people injured in combined drone and artillery fire.
- Zaporizhzhia Oblast: Two wounded in a strike on Vasylivka district.
The renewed wave of attacks comes as peace talks remain stalled and Russia intensifies its pressure on Ukrainian civilian and infrastructure targets.
