Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday dismissed Ukraine’s campaign of infrastructure strikes, asserting that the attacks have yielded no tangible impact on the frontline.
The Russian leader stated that the strikes, which he characterized as terrorist attacks, completely fail to alter the battlefield realities or the line of contact.
“No matter where they strike our infrastructure, those attacks have absolutely no effect on the battlefield or along the line of contact,” he said.
Information Warfare
Putin framed the attacks on civilian infrastructure as an information operation designed to create domestic uncertainty.
He argued the broader objective is to divide Russian society and undermine confidence in the country's military strength.
According to Putin, Kyiv hopes these operations will force Moscow to temporarily suspend its ongoing offensives.
He claimed the ultimate goal of the strikes is to generate favorable conditions for future negotiations.
“They also seek to force Russia to suspend the offensive of our troops, even if only temporarily, in order to create conditions for starting negotiations on terms favorable to our opponent,” he said.
“We will not give them that chance.”
Western Rhetoric and Retaliation
Addressing claims of Ukrainian territorial gains, Putin mocked Western leaders, challenging them to identify where exactly these purported liberations are occurring.
He noted that if Ukraine were truly achieving strategic victories, the West would only need to wait for Russia’s defeat to happen naturally.
Putin also accused European leaders of hypocrisy regarding drone warfare.
He questioned their praise for Ukraine's innovative drone use while ignoring specific incidents, citing a strike on a student dormitory in Starobilsk.
Regarding new proposals to halt mutual deep strikes, Putin rejected the idea as an attempt to shield Kyiv from heavier damage.
He asserted that Russia's retaliatory strikes deep inside Ukraine remain vastly more powerful, destructive, and damaging to the Ukrainian government.
