Anduril and Palantir Join $185B Golden Dome Missile Shield Project
Anduril Industries and Palantir Technologies are part of a consortium developing the software backbone of U.S. President Donald Trump’s planned Golden Dome missile defense system, according to The Wall Street Journal exclusive report citing people familiar with the matter.

The development marks a major step in the creation of the Golden Dome antimissile shield, a high-profile defense initiative designed to protect the United States and its territories from airborne threats. The consortium reportedly aims to have the software ready for testing by the summer.
In addition to Anduril Industries and Palantir Technologies, the consortium includes Aalyria Technologies, Scale AI, and Swoop Technologies. Traditional defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and RTX are also contributing as subcontractors within the broader framework.
The collaboration reflects a shift in defense procurement, where technology companies are taking a leading role in systems integration, while legacy defense firms support specialized components.
The software under development is considered the central element of the Golden Dome system. It is designed to integrate data from multiple sensors, including radars and space-based detection systems, and enable coordinated responses to incoming threats.
According to Space Force Lt. Gen. Michael Guetlein, who is overseeing the program within the Pentagon, the software acts as a “glue layer” that links together distributed defense assets across different military branches.
The Golden Dome initiative is intended to establish a comprehensive missile defense shield capable of detecting, tracking, and intercepting aerial threats. The command-and-control system will allow military operators to manage a network of interceptors and sensor systems in real time.
The project is structured to demonstrate its capabilities through live testing, including the ability to receive and process data from multiple sources and execute coordinated defensive actions.
The Golden Dome program highlights the increasing importance of software-driven solutions in U.S. defense acquisitions. Anduril, for example, recently secured a 10-year contract worth up to $20 billion with the U.S. Army, reflecting the growing role of tech firms in large-scale military programs.
The consortium’s approach also differs from traditional contracting models, as defense companies are operating as subcontractors to technology firms rather than directly contracting with the Pentagon.
If successful, the Golden Dome software could become the operational foundation of a multi-layered missile defense architecture, potentially generating long-term contracts worth billions of dollars for participating companies.
