The Israeli military has intensified its air campaign against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, days after the ceasefire that ended the Israel-Iran conflict. On Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted airstrikes that killed a senior commander from Hezbollah’s elite Radwan unit and another fighter near Beit Leif.

Key Hezbollah and Iranian Figures Eliminated

These strikes are part of a broader Israeli effort to dismantle Hezbollah’s operational structure and Iranian assets in Lebanon. Among the most notable targets was Bakri, head of the Al-Sadiq exchange network, who played a vital role in channeling funds from Iran’s Quds Force to Hezbollah. Israeli officials described Bakri’s death as a significant blow to the group’s financial lifeline.

Crippling Iran’s Quds Force Capabilities

In parallel operations, Israel also targeted high-ranking members of Iran’s Quds Force. Saeed Izadi, commander of the Palestine Division and a key liaison between Tehran and Hamas, was killed. Another major loss for the Quds Force was Behnam Shahriyari, who managed a vast financial and weapons distribution network across the region. His network reportedly funneled hundreds of millions of dollars annually through money exchanges, shell companies, and couriers.

Strategy: Disrupt Hezbollah's Regional Role

Israeli military sources emphasized that these targeted operations are designed to dismantle the logistical and financial ecosystems that support Hezbollah and its allies. Intelligence-assisted airstrikes are increasingly focused on leadership decapitation strategies and infrastructure destruction.

Broader Implications After the Iran Conflict

The escalation reflects Israel’s shift in military focus following the ceasefire with Iran. By removing key figures and damaging critical infrastructure, Israel aims to limit Hezbollah’s regional operational capacity and its ability to support other groups like Hamas and the Houthis.
