Trump’s statement followed confirmation from Hamas that it is in the final stages of internal consultations. The group released a message via Telegram indicating it will soon inform mediators of its decision: “The final decision will be handed over to the mediators after consultations with Palestinian forces and factions.”

Hamas emphasized that any agreement must address the “Zionist aggression” and ensure the unimpeded entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Background on Negotiations

Hamas and Israel have engaged in multiple rounds of indirect negotiations, with previous efforts failing over key disagreements. Hamas has consistently demanded a permanent end to the war and the full lifting of the blockade. Israel, on the other hand, has pushed for only temporary cease-fires and the return of hostages.

Talks have remained deadlocked despite U.S.-backed initiatives and international mediation efforts.

Heavy Casualties Amid Renewed Israeli Strikes

The situation on the ground continues to deteriorate. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 6,572 Palestinians have been killed since Israel resumed intensive airstrikes on March 18. This brings the total number of Palestinians killed to 57,130, with 135,173 wounded.

The humanitarian crisis remains dire, with aid groups warning of collapsing health services and widespread shortages of food, water, and medical supplies.
