Iran has replaced its damaged air defences with pre-positioned systems following last month’s military confrontation with Israel, senior Iranian military officials said on Sunday.
According to Defah Press, Iran’s military news outlet, Mahmoud Mousavi, deputy operations chief of Iran’s regular army, acknowledged the damage suffered during Israel’s June air campaign, which temporarily overwhelmed Iranian airspace and struck key defence assets.
“Some of our air defences were damaged, this is not something we can hide,” Mousavi said. “But our colleagues have used domestic resources and replaced them with pre-arranged systems that were stored in suitable locations to keep the airspace secure.”
Domestic Systems Reinforced
Prior to the conflict, Iran had fielded its indigenous Bavar-373 long-range air defence system alongside Russian-made S-300 platforms. Defah Press made no mention of new foreign acquisitions, underscoring that Tehran relied on its own stockpiles and pre-existing domestic systems to restore its defensive posture.
Iranian authorities previously showcased Russian systems in military drills to signal their recovery from Israeli strikes on missile production facilities last year.
The latest announcement reflects Tehran’s effort to project resilience in the face of Israeli military pressure. The June exchange saw Iran unleash drone and missile barrages on Israel while its own airspace came under intense attack.
Iran’s declaration comes amid heightened regional tensions and as nuclear talks between Iran and European powers show signs of potential resumption.
