These new vessels will support a range of expeditionary missions including assault landings, transport of heavy equipment, and rapid mobility between ship and shore. The LCAC 100-class crafts feature advanced systems such as four Rolls-Royce MT7 gas turbines—adapted from the V-22 Osprey—and can reach speeds of 35 knots with a range of up to 200 nautical miles.
Armed with naval guns, machine guns, and grenade launchers, the LCAC 100s are designed for tactical flexibility in modern conflict scenarios. Their capabilities enhance the Navy’s amphibious readiness in contested environments.
The current contract expands on a 2023 agreement to deliver up to 73 LCACs. Textron delivered the first nine boats by November 2024 and handed over LCAC 113 in June 2025. The company is now producing LCACs 114 through 126, with the three new crafts due by 2031.
The LCAC 100 and LCAC 101 entered service in August 2020, setting the foundation for the fleet's next generation of ship-to-shore connectors.
