At least 51 Palestinians were killed and more than 200 injured early Wednesday after Israeli airstrikes hit areas near humanitarian aid distribution points and residential zones in Gaza, according to local medical sources. Eleven civilians were reportedly killed and over 100 wounded on Salah al-Din Street, where they had gathered in anticipation of aid deliveries.
The strikes, which began at dawn, also targeted the area surrounding the Ali Mosque in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of southeastern Gaza City, killing eight and injuring others.
In the central Gaza Strip, Israeli jets bombed the Maghazi refugee camp, killing six. Another five were killed in Khan Younis near the Al-Mawasi zone, a region designated for displaced persons.
Meanwhile, local residents in Jabalia, northern Gaza, reported large explosions and damage to homes as the Israeli military expanded its offensive to northern districts.
The attacks are part of Israel’s ongoing military operations amid its broader conflict with Hamas. However, the rising toll on civilians and the targeting of people awaiting humanitarian relief have intensified international scrutiny.
“The situation is catastrophic,” a Gaza health official said. “Ambulances cannot keep up with the wounded.”
