President Trump, on a visit lasting less than four hours after the Gaza ceasefire agreement, addressed the Israeli parliament (Knesset).
As he entered the hall, Trump was applauded for several minutes. He began his speech by saying, “This is the end of an era of terror and death, and the beginning of an era of hope.”
Trump continued, “I want to thank all the leaders of the Arab and Islamic world. They have worked hard to ensure Hamas releases the captives.” His speech was frequently interrupted by applause as he added, “A historic dawn is rising for a new Middle East.”
“The Golden Age of the Middle East Begins”
Regarding the peace process, Trump stated, “This moment will be remembered for generations. It will be remembered as the moment when everything started to change. It will be the golden age of the Middle East.”
The U.S. President highlighted his record of ending conflicts, saying, “I have ended eight different conflicts in eight months. This shows that I do not like wars. My nature is closer to ending wars than starting them.”
“We Provided Israel with Military Support”
Trump emphasized the military aid provided to Israel, saying:
We produce the best weapons. We also provided Israel with a significant amount of weaponry. Netanyahu often called me, asking, ‘Can you supply this weapon or that weapon?’ And we produced them and delivered them. Israel used these weapons very well. This enabled peace to emerge.
He added, “A much brighter period is beginning not only for Israelis but also for Palestinians. A Middle East of proud nations is emerging.”
Trump Calls for Dialogue with Tehran
Addressing Iran directly, Trump said, “Even to Iran, a regime responsible for the deaths of many people in the Middle East, a hand of friendship and cooperation is always open.”
Regarding Iran’s nuclear program, he stated:
“If Iran had large-scale nuclear weapons, we wouldn’t be here today. We cleared a huge dark cloud from over Israel.”
Trump further remarked, “Wouldn’t it have been good if we had made a peace agreement with them? I think they want it too. They just want to survive.”
“We Achieved the Impossible”
Trump highlighted Hamas’s release of Israeli hostages under the ceasefire agreement, saying, “Despite all difficulties, we achieved the impossible and brought our hostages home.” He described this success as “a victory of determination and diplomacy.”
He continued, “Palestine will be disarmed, Hamas will be disarmed, and Israel’s security will in no way be threatened. With our assistance, Israel has gained everything.”
Golden Dove Gift from Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu presented Trump with a golden dove in recognition of his contributions to the peace process. In his speech at the parliament, Netanyahu stated, “Donald Trump is the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House. No American president has done more for Israel than him.”
Trump wrote in the visitor’s book, “It is a great honor for me, an important and beautiful day. A new beginning.”
“A New Middle East is Emerging”
Trump concluded his speech, saying, “Israel will be a wonderful place where we will live together. A new Middle East is emerging. I thank Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has shown extraordinary patriotism and courage. We are stepping into a golden age for the U.S. and Israel.”
Afterward, in a brief statement to reporters, the U.S. President said, “The war is over. Hamas will adhere to the disarmament plan.”
“Thank You Trump”
During Trump’s visit, Israeli activists gathered in front of the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, writing “Welcome Home” and “Thank You, Trump” in the sand.
Under the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, 20 Israeli hostages and 1,966 Palestinian prisoners were released reciprocally. While the exchange process continues, Trump’s visit to Israel is being interpreted as “the beginning of a new era in the Middle East.”
