Over 20 world leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdulfettah el-Sisi, gathered in Egypt to formalize a Gaza ceasefire agreement. Türkiye, Qatar, and Egypt co-signed a joint declaration affirming the ceasefire and pledging support for Gaza’s reconstruction.
Following bilateral discussions between U.S. President Trump and President el-Sisi, a joint press conference was held for world leaders to sign the Gaza ceasefire declaration. Trump signed the document first, commenting, “It took 3,000 years to reach this point, can you believe it?” His remarks were met with sustained applause. Egyptian President el-Sisi, Emir Tamim of Qatar, and President Erdoğan then added their signatures in a coordinated gesture of commitment. The ceremony emphasized a cooperative approach to stabilizing Gaza after months of conflict, with leaders highlighting humanitarian and security imperatives.
The summit concluded with a reaffirmation of long-term peace objectives. Trump described the event as “historic” and praised the collaborative efforts, emphasizing, “There were predictions of a Third World War in the Middle East, but that will not happen.
Trump highlighted the significance of the ceasefire, stating, “We have reached peace in the Middle East. Together, we ended the war in Gaza. Reconstruction begins now.” He emphasized that the post-conflict rebuilding process would be smoother due to the unprecedented international cooperation. President el-Sisi echoed the commitment to Palestinian rights, affirming, “The people of Palestine have the right to self-determination. They are entitled to live in freedom and an independent state, alongside Israel, in peace, security, and mutual recognition.” The summit also underscored the importance of regional collaboration in promoting stability.
U.S. President Trump singled out President Erdoğan of Türkiye for personal thanks, noting, “He never let us down. Whenever we needed support, he was always there.” He added, “He is a strong person. Whenever there is an issue, they call me, and I usually find a solution. We have had very good relations from the beginning. He has always stood with me.” The remarks highlighted Erdoğan’s influential role in mediating regional dialogue and supporting the ceasefire’s implementation.
