Ukraine Hits Russian Missile Battery Plant

ClashReport
On May 23, Ukraine launched a drone strike against the Energiya JSC plant in Yelets, Lipetsk Oblast, targeting a facility producing batteries for Russian missiles. The Ukrainian General Staff confirmed the hit, stating that the factory plays a critical role in producing components for Iskander-M ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and aircraft bombs.
“A series of explosions were recorded, and a fire broke out at the site,” said Ukraine’s military, adding that the attack could severely hinder Russia’s missile production capacity.
Critical Facility for Russian Military Damaged
Energiya JSC is reportedly Russia’s only manufacturer of batteries used in guidance systems for glide bombs and other advanced munitions. The plant is under U.S. and EU sanctions for its direct support of the Russian defense industry.
According to Russia’s Defense Ministry, over 100 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight, with at least one breaching defenses to strike the Yelets facility.
