Bayraktar TB2 Drops FPV Kamikaze Drones on Targets in Baykar Test

Türkiye’s Bayraktar TB2 carried 16 FPV kamikaze drones in a test and released two that hit their targets. Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar says the TB2 relay could extend FPV reach from about 15 km to thousands of kilometres.

Baykar flew the drone from its Keşan Flight Training and Test Center loaded with 16 Skydagger FPV kamikaze drones and released two of them over the test range on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Control of the small drones ran through a link set up via the TB2 itself.

Operators steered the two drones onto designated targets and hit them with pinpoint accuracy, Baykar said in a statement carried by CNN Türk and Hürriyet.

Eight FPV Drones Under Each Wing

Footage shared by Baykar chairman Selçuk Bayraktar shows the FPV drones mounted on purpose-built racks, eight under each wing, according to TRT Haber. The video shows one of the released drones diving onto a ground target.

Bayraktar captioned the clip “16 x FPV Drone Drop Test,” tagging Baykar and Skydagger.

TRT Haber said the test gives the TB2 a “carrier mother platform” role, letting it carry and air-launch FPV drones and loitering munitions alongside laser-guided smart munitions such as the MAM-L and MAM-C.

From 15 Km to Thousands of Kilometres

Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar framed the result around range. “FPV drones, which have an average range of 15 km on the battlefield, now gain the ability to reach thousands of kilometres away with Bayraktar TB2 integration,” he wrote on X.

He said the TB2, carrying 16 Skydagger FPV drones and acting as an airborne communications relay, “opens the door to a new doctrine on the battlefield.”

Baykar gave no strike range for the combination. Any gain depends on how far the TB2 itself can fly and how far its datalink reaches. The company lists the TB2 with more than 18 hours of endurance, a 150 kg payload and both line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight communication.

Skydagger’s Air-Launch Push

Skydagger, a Turkish kamikaze drone maker, had earlier released a drone from Baykar’s Kalkan VTOL aircraft. Its chief executive, Mehmet Öztekin, told TRT Haber, as cited by Türkiye Today, that integrations with the Kızılelma, Akıncı, TB2 and TB3 would follow.

“Being able to drop a drone from an aircraft means significantly eliminating range restrictions,” Öztekin said. He added that the company is quadrupling production capacity to 120,000 units a year.

TB2 as a Control Node

The FPV test comes days after another TB2 relay trial at sea. In October, state-owned MKE’s PIRANA kamikaze boat struck a target during the TURNAs-2026 naval exercise while controlled through a Bayraktar TB2, according to Defense War Room.

Baykar says it exported $2.2 billion worth of systems in 2025 and has signed TB2 export deals with 36 countries. Its unmanned fighter Kızılelma made headlines with an air-to-air missile kill last year, while the TB2 remains in service from Bangladesh to Ukraine.
