Türkiye ISIS Operation Leaves Six Terrorists Dead

3 Turkish police officers were martyred and 9 security personnel wounded during a counterterrorism operation targeting the the terrorist organization ISIS in Türkiye, authorities said. Six ISIS members were killed in the operation.

The operation was carried out by units of the Yalova Provincial Police Department at a house in the Elmalık village area, about 9 kilometers from Yalova’s city center, following intelligence-led surveillance.

Police entered the residence at approximately 02.00 am, at which point ISIS memebers inside the house opened fire, triggering a prolonged exchange of gunfire.

Fatal Clash During Entry

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said the officers were shot as they attempted to secure the building.

“During the operation, ISIS terrorists opened fire on our police officers,” Yerlikaya told reporters. “As a result of this treacherous attack, three of our police officers were martyred.”

8 police officers and one neighborhood guard were wounded. Authorities said all injured personnel were taken to hospital and that none were in critical condition.

Six Terrorist Killed, Civilians Removed

Security forces returned fire, killing six ISIS members inside the house, the Interior Ministry said. The operation was conducted with heightened caution due to the presence of civilians.

According to Yerlikaya, five women and six children found inside the residence were evacuated unharmed before the final phase of the operation.

Turkish police repeatedly tried to get children out safely as ISIS terrorists used them as human shields during the operation: “Send the child. We don’t kill children. It’s a holy day, let no one’s nose bleed.”

Judicial Investigation Launched

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç said a judicial investigation had been launched by the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office into the incident.

According to Tunç, five public prosecutors have been assigned to the case, and five suspects have been taken into custody as part of the investigation. He said the inquiry is being conducted thoroughly and on multiple fronts.

Erdoğan: Counterterror Fight Will Continue

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Türkiye would continue its fight against terrorism both domestically and beyond its borders.

“We will continue our fight against the bloodstained killers who target the peace of our nation and the security of our state in a determined, multi-dimensional and uncompromising manner, both within our borders and beyond,” Erdoğan said in a statement.

Reinforcements and Area Secured

Following the initial exchange, the surrounding area was sealed off. Special operations units from the neighboring province of Bursa were deployed to reinforce local police.

The Yalova Governor’s Office said the incident occurred during a planned counterterrorism operation and confirmed that security measures continued until the area was fully secured.

Yalova is a small but strategically located province in northwestern Türkiye, bordering the major industrial cities of Bursa and Kocaeli, and within close proximity to Istanbul.
