Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin has consistently rejected all peace proposals aimed at ending the war. Speaking during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome, Zelensky accused Moscow of showing no real interest in diplomacy and instead continuing to escalate hostilities.

“They are not looking for peace,” Zelensky said. “They are looking for domination. That is why Ukraine needs more missiles, more air defense systems, and more guarantees that freedom will be protected.”

EU Vows Long-Term Support

At the same press conference, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reaffirmed the European Union’s deep commitment to Ukraine’s reconstruction, announcing a new €10 billion investment initiative. She described the EU as Ukraine’s “strongest partner, top donor, and key investor” and emphasized that Europe would continue to support Kyiv “for as long as it takes.”

The Rome conference follows one of the most intense weeks of Russian missile and drone attacks since the full-scale invasion began. Zelensky used the occasion to call for accelerated weapons deliveries and new sanctions against Moscow.
