United Nations officials reported that Israeli forces killed at least 105 Palestinians and wounded more than 680 others over two days, July 30 and 31, targeting civilians seeking food along aid convoy routes in northern Gaza.

UN Blames Israel for Targeting Civilians

The UN Human Rights Office in the occupied Palestinian territories condemned what it called ongoing Israeli attacks on civilians near aid delivery paths and around the American-operated "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation." It emphasized that the victims were overwhelmingly men and boys not engaged in any hostilities.

“These deliberate attacks on civilians, coupled with starvation as a weapon of war through systematic deprivation and obstruction of humanitarian aid, amount to war crimes,” the office stated. “If committed as part of a widespread or systematic assault on civilians, these may also rise to crimes against humanity.”

The violence occurred despite the Israeli military’s announcement on July 27 of a temporary “humanitarian pause” in certain areas of Gaza — including from Gaza City to Al-Mawasi — intended to allow safer aid deliveries.

Hunger and Deprivation Escalate

The UN reported that since July 27, at least 1,373 Palestinians searching for food have been killed — 859 around the humanitarian foundation site and 514 along aid convoy routes. These figures underline the growing desperation and deadly toll of famine conditions in Gaza, where increasing numbers of children and the elderly are dying from hunger.

“This is a man-made humanitarian catastrophe,” the UN warned, citing a drastic reduction in life-saving aid deliveries due to military blockades and bombardment.
