According to the Sudanese group Emergency Lawyers, the RSF launched a wave of coordinated attacks on Saturday in villages surrounding the city of Bara, a key stronghold under RSF control. In Shag Alnom village alone, more than 200 civilians were reportedly killed by gunfire or burned alive in their homes.

Additional raids on nearby villages claimed at least 38 more lives, with dozens still missing. On Sunday, the RSF reportedly attacked the village of Hilat Hamid, killing another 46 people, including pregnant women and children.

“It has been proven that these targeted villages were completely empty of any military objectives,” Emergency Lawyers said in a statement, describing the raids as “criminal acts in total violation of international humanitarian law.”

War Crimes Allegations And Humanitarian Collapse

The RSF, a powerful paramilitary group led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), is engaged in a brutal power struggle with the Sudanese army since April 2023. The military currently controls the country’s east and center, while the RSF has expanded its grip across western regions, including North Kordofan and Darfur.

The United States and multiple rights groups have accused the RSF of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and even acts of genocide during its campaigns in Darfur and elsewhere. Though RSF leaders have promised accountability, no perpetrators have yet faced prosecution.

The ongoing civil war has triggered the world’s largest humanitarian crisis, with over half of Sudan’s population now suffering from hunger, displacement, and outbreaks of disease including cholera. Aid agencies warn that dwindling international support is stretching relief efforts to the brink.
