Efforts to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas have so far yielded no breakthrough, a Palestinian official told AFP following a round of indirect talks held Monday morning in Doha.
“No breakthrough was achieved in the morning negotiation session, but the talks will continue, and Hamas hopes to reach an agreement,” the official said.
Another Palestinian source, who is reportedly close to the negotiations, confirmed that talks are expected to resume later in the evening.
The discussions come amid mounting international pressure to halt the violence in Gaza, but both sides remain deeply divided over key terms of any potential deal.
