The Palestinian health ministry reported on Sunday that Israeli forces have killed at least 80 Palestinians and injured 304 others in the Gaza Strip within the past 24 hours, as the war approaches its tenth month.
The latest casualties bring the total number of Palestinians killed since the outbreak of the conflict in October 2023 to 58,895, with an additional 140,980 people wounded. Health officials noted that the majority of those killed are women and children.
The continued bombardment of Gaza comes amid mounting international criticism of Israel’s conduct in the war, which has devastated the enclave and displaced nearly its entire population. Despite calls for a ceasefire and growing concern over a looming famine, Israeli military operations have intensified in several districts, including Rafah, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City.
Aid agencies say the humanitarian situation remains catastrophic, with hospitals overwhelmed, food scarce, and basic infrastructure destroyed. The UN has repeatedly warned that civilians are bearing the brunt of the fighting.
