Many Israelis think the Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange succeeded thanks to US President Donald Trump, not Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Relatives of Israeli captives and supporters gathered at “Prisoners’ Square” in Tel Aviv to protest against the government and Netanyahu.
At a rally attended by U.S. President Donald Trump's Middle East Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, along with his son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka Trump, Israelis chanted slogans against Netanyahu and the government.
When Witkoff mentioned Netanyahu’s contribution, the crowd booed and repeatedly chanted in Hebrew: “Shame, shame, shame.”
Israelis who blame Netanyahu for two years of Gaza conflict said they plan to push for a government change following the release of the prisoners.
