During a press interaction, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed a reporter’s question about reports that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro had offered concessions to Washington. Trump replied:
“He has offered everything, you know why? Because he doesn’t want to f**k around with the United States.”
According to earlier reporting, Maduro’s “offers” reportedly included a potential transition plan involving his eventual departure from power and proposals to grant U.S. access to certain oil and mineral assets as part of broader negotiations. While the White House has rejected claims of formal talks, sources indicated that the offers were meant to prevent further U.S. intervention amid Venezuela’s worsening economic crisis, hyperinflation, and sanctions.
Trump’s remarks coincided with an uptick in U.S. counter-narcotics operations in the Caribbean targeting Venezuelan-linked drug networks.
These actions have fueled speculation of deeper U.S. involvement in Venezuela’s internal affairs.
The United States has regarded Maduro’s government as illegitimate since 2019, citing electoral fraud and human rights abuses. Trump’s administration has maintained a hardline stance, linking Venezuela’s leadership to drug trafficking and corruption.
Maduro has denied all allegations, accusing Washington of “imperialist interference.” Analysts see Trump’s statement as part of his characteristic unfiltered foreign policy rhetoric, reinforcing U.S. leverage in Latin America while escalating diplomatic tension with Caracas.
