Speaking at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) conference on October 13, 2025, Taylor noted that AI tools assist with predictive modeling, report synthesis, and faster decision cycles, describing the technology as a complement to traditional command judgment.
AI Integration in Military Decision-Making
Taylor explained that the Army’s use of generative AI reflects a broader push for digital transformation and modernization. “I’ve become—Chat and I are really close lately,” he joked, emphasizing that AI is used to augment human judgment, not replace it. The tools help forecast outcomes, refine operational planning, and enhance the OODA Loop (observe, orient, decide, act).
Applications Across Operations
The general highlighted practical uses of AI in counter-drone operations, cyber defense, logistics, and aviation safety. Taylor stressed that these tools improve situational awareness and accelerate decision-making, giving commanders a strategic advantage while maintaining human oversight. “As a commander, I want to make better decisions… at the right time to give me the advantage,” he said.
