BAE Systems to Nearly Double Eurofighter Typhoon Output to Supply Türkiye

BAE Systems plans to expand annual manufacturing of the Eurofighter Typhoon to nearly 30 aircraft per year, nearly doubling its current output rate.

The dramatic ramp-up is designed to clear an existing order backlog, fulfill upcoming deliveries for Türkiye, and accommodate prospective international buyers.

Ramping Up Assembly Lines

According to BAE Systems Chief Executive Charles Woodburn, annual production will increase from the present rate of 12 to 14 jets.

The chief executive stated that the British defense contractor is "well on track" to achieve the elevated assembly target.

The operational expansion is directly linked to the integration of new program partners, with Türkiye's entry providing significant momentum across the supply chain.

Export Prospects Drive Strategy

BAE Systems indicates that assembly rates could escalate even further should current export prospects transition into confirmed sales.

Woodburn highlighted that the company maintains multiple international opportunities in its pipeline that could push manufacturing beyond the initial 30-unit benchmark.

The Typhoon platform remains a central driver of the contractor's European growth trajectory, alongside entities such as MBDA, Hägglunds, and Bofors.

Dual-Track Combat Strategy

The platform is slated to operate as a primary combat-air vector for several decades, supported by persistent modernization efforts.

This modernization strategy runs parallel to the development of the Global Combat Air Programme, a next-generation system targeted for mid-2030s operational deployment.

Adaptability remains key to the jet's longevity, evidenced by the rapid integration of Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System laser-guided rockets to address emerging threats.

This capability upgrade responds directly to elevated demand from Middle Eastern clients prioritizing counter-drone capabilities and airspace security.
