During Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia earlier this year, the White House claimed it had secured up to $600 billion in investments and cooperation pledges from Riyadh, revising down initial projections of $1 trillion. Prince Mohammed, often referred to as MBS, is now expected to lock in many of those commitments during his Washington trip. The meeting will underscore deepening economic and political ties, particularly as MBS consolidates his leadership amid his father King Salman’s declining public role.
The White House has not yet officially announced the visit, and Saudi officials have declined public comment. However, sources confirmed that preparations are underway and the visit is slated for late fall.
From Global Isolation To Diplomatic Return
MBS’s visit marks a personal and political milestone. After years of isolation by the U.S. political establishment due to the Khashoggi affair, the crown prince is once again being embraced by Western leaders. Trump had blocked the release of the CIA’s assessment implicating MBS in the journalist’s assassination during his first term, and he has since praised the crown prince as a “great man” and an “incredible guy.”
Analysts see the meeting as both a geopolitical and symbolic reset. MBS has led a multi-trillion-dollar economic overhaul in Saudi Arabia and positioned the kingdom as a key regional stabilizer. Trump's administration has expressed strong support for Saudi-led development models across the Middle East, portraying Gulf modernization as a pathway to post-conflict reconstruction elsewhere in the region.
