The legal appeal was filed by the group Jurists for the Respect of International Law (Jurdi), which argues that allowing the transfer may constitute facilitation of international crimes. In a statement, Jurdi said Elbit Systems plays a “central role in the current war effort, including in the Gaza Strip.”
The group referenced ongoing cases at the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice that accuse Israel of serious violations of international humanitarian law.
French Territory Implicated
Jurdi’s lawyers argue that permitting this cargo through French territory may render French authorities complicit. “Authorising the uncontrolled transit of armoured vehicles destined for Elbit Systems would be equivalent to facilitating, from French territory, the commission of international crimes,” the group stated.
The case is the latest in a series of legal efforts across Europe aimed at scrutinizing arms sales and transfers linked to Israel’s military operations in Gaza.
