According to a statement by Türkiye’s Presidency of Communications, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke by phone with US President Donald Trump to discuss Türkiye–US relations alongside key regional and global developments.
The call took place amid heightened diplomatic engagement on the Middle East, with both leaders exchanging views on security, stability, and ongoing conflict zones.
Syria’s Unity and Territorial Integrity
Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye is closely monitoring developments in Syria and underlined that the country’s unity, cohesion, and territorial integrity remain of critical importance for Ankara.
He noted that a fully rebuilt, terror-free, and stable Syria would make a significant contribution to regional peace and stability, stressing Türkiye’s continued commitment to this objective.
Fight Against ISIS and Detainee Issue
The discussion also covered the fight against ISIS, including the situation of ISIS detainees held in prisons in Syria. Erdogan highlighted the need for coordinated international efforts to address the security risks posed by these detainees and to prevent the re-emergence of terrorist threats.
Gaza Peace Efforts and Coordination with Washington
Erdogan and Trump further discussed ongoing efforts to establish peace in Gaza. The Turkish president reiterated Türkiye’s readiness to continue working in close coordination with the United States to support initiatives aimed at ending the conflict and achieving lasting stability.
Erdogan also thanked President Trump for the invitation to the Gaza Peace Board, signaling Ankara’s willingness to play an active diplomatic role in future peace mechanisms.
