A drone strike on the central market of El Fasher killed and wounded dozens, according to local sources and medical staff. The attack, attributed to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), comes as the city remains under prolonged siege, with civilians facing hunger, disease, and constant bombardment.
Market Attack Adds to Civilian Toll
Medical sources said the strike killed 15 people and left 12 injured, three in critical condition. Activist committees cited a higher toll of 27 dead and wounded. Traders reported that RSF drones in recent days destroyed at least five smaller shops, killing their owners and cutting off what remained of the food supply.
Siege Conditions and Humanitarian Collapse
El Fasher has been encircled for over 500 days. RSF forces have built berms and trenches around the city, restricting movement and blocking supply routes. Residents describe dwindling stocks of food and medicine, alongside shortages of clean water.
Health officials warn that epidemics are spreading fast. Dengue fever cases are surging into the thousands in a single week, while cholera infections across Darfur have climbed above 12,000 with hundreds of deaths. With hospitals overstretched and resources scarce, many of the wounded struggle to survive.
