Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly approved a series of high-value defense contracts between Israel’s top military companies and Qatar.
According to a report by Walla News, major Israeli defense firms—including Elbit Systems, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI)—have engaged in extensive business with Qatar, with Netanyahu and the Israeli Defense Ministry directly authorizing the agreements.
Elbit alone reportedly secured over $100 million in deals. Rafael signed contracts worth tens of millions, while IAI executives held more than 20 meetings with Qatari counterparts, including a full-day session at IAI headquarters in Israel.
The revelation comes a day after Israeli intelligence published seized documents from Gaza outlining Qatar’s financial and training support to Hamas. A 2021 communication cited in the leaks claims Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani pledged discreet financial backing to Hamas's “resistance” campaign.
The reports also allege Qatari intelligence officials met with Hamas representatives to supervise specialized training—including for exiled Palestinians from Syria—at bases in Qatar and Turkey.
Elbit stated its activities follow Israeli Defense Ministry regulations. Rafael declined to identify partners but stressed it adheres to strict export control laws. Neither the Prime Minister’s Office nor Qatar provided comment on the reported deals.
The disclosures raise questions over the duality of Israeli policy—condemning Qatar's Hamas ties while engaging it as a defense client.
