At least 15 people, including three journalists, were killed in an Israeli strike on Nasser Hospital in Gaza on Monday, Palestinian health authorities reported. Among the victims was Hussam al-Masri, a cameraman working for Reuters, while photographer Hatem Khaled, also contracted by the agency, was wounded. The Israeli military and the Prime Minister’s Office have not issued any comment regarding the attack, which struck one of Gaza’s most important medical facilities.
Palestinian officials confirmed that three journalists were killed in the strike, highlighting the growing toll on media workers in the Gaza conflict. Hussam al-Masri, who had been covering the war for Reuters, died instantly in the blast. Photographer Hatem Khaled, another Reuters contractor, was injured but survived. The deaths add to a mounting list of journalists killed in Gaza since the escalation of hostilities in 2023.
The strike on Nasser Hospital comes amid worsening conditions for Gaza’s healthcare system, already strained by shortages of fuel, medicine, and staff. Hospitals across the enclave have repeatedly been hit during the conflict, raising concerns about violations of international law. Health authorities said the attack further crippled emergency response capacity as doctors attempted to treat mass casualties under bombardment.
