Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Katz said the strikes were aimed at what he called “the largest site for the production of precision missiles belonging to Hezbollah.” The bombardment hit Brital, Nasiriyah in the Tallet al-Sunduq area, the hills of Janta and Shaara near Nabi Sheet, as well as southern areas including Ghaziyeh and Khardali. Local footage verified by Al Jazeera showed large plumes of smoke rising after the attacks.
Despite the ceasefire, Katz warned that “every attempt by the terrorist organisation to recover, reposition, or threaten will be met with relentless force.” Hezbollah has not confirmed the specific sites targeted but maintains an extensive military presence across eastern Lebanon.
The renewed violence follows increased diplomatic pressure on Hezbollah to surrender its weapons. In a televised address, President Aoun called for a national plan to transfer all arms to the Lebanese Army and extend state control over all territory. “We must choose between collapse and stability,” he warned, calling for international donors to support army expansion with $1 billion annually for a decade.
However, Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem rejected the disarmament demands, stating that any such proposal “serves the Israeli project.” The group argued that no talks on its arsenal can proceed until Israel withdraws from Lebanese territory and halts attacks. Under the 2024 UN-backed ceasefire, Hezbollah was to move north of the Litani River, while Israel was required to vacate five positions in Lebanon. Neither side has fully complied.
