Iran has warned it will target locations in the United Arab Emirates where US troops are present, accusing Washington of launching missile attacks against Iranian territory from Emirati soil.
The statement was issued by the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the command center responsible for directing Iran’s military operations.
In its statement, the Iranian command claimed that US forces had fired missiles at Iran from locations within the United Arab Emirates.
It also alleged that after the destruction of certain US military bases in the region, American forces had used ports and civilian facilities in the UAE to conduct attacks against Iranian territory.
According to the statement, Iranian territory targeted in these operations included strategic islands in the Persian Gulf such as Abu Musa Island and Kharg Island.
Iranian forces said they now consider any location in the UAE where US troops are stationed or from which attacks against Iran are launched to be a “legitimate target.”
The statement emphasized that Iran views striking ports, docks and facilities used by US forces as a legitimate act of self-defense to protect its national sovereignty and territory.
Iran’s military also issued a warning to civilians living in the United Arab Emirates.
Authorities urged residents to stay away from ports, harbors and locations where US troops are believed to be stationed in order to avoid potential harm if military strikes occur.
