Bahrain’s National Communication Centre confirmed that a fire broke out in the Maameer area, south of the capital Manama, following an Iranian attack on March 6. Authorities reported that the fire caused material damage but resulted in no injuries or deaths. Firefighting operations were immediately initiated to contain the blaze.

Maameer hosts Bahrain’s largest industrial zone, including the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) refinery and numerous factories. The area has previously been targeted during regional hostilities, including Iranian strikes on March 5, affecting national energy infrastructure.

In response to the incident, BAPCO declared force majeure for its group operations, citing the impact of the attack on a refinery unit within its industrial complex. The company emphasized that local market energy needs are fully secured according to pre-established plans, ensuring uninterrupted supply to domestic consumers. BAPCO also committed to keeping partners and stakeholders updated on developments.

The March 6 attack is part of a series of Iranian retaliatory actions targeting Gulf states and Israel, following the US and Israeli campaign against Iran that killed more than 1,200 individuals, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has continued to deploy missiles and drones in retaliation, raising concerns over Gulf security and energy supply lines.
