In a live broadcast on A Haber, Fidan commented on the evolving stance of EU countries regarding the Gaza conflict, noting that many initially resisted ceasefire efforts that went against Israel's interests. However, Fidan emphasized that European nations are reconsidering their positions as the situation becomes increasingly unsustainable.
Fidan highlighted that President Erdogan's tough approach is resonating with European policymakers, as they come to terms with the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the broader regional instability, including the situation with Iran.
Fidan also took aim at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of exacerbating regional instability for his own political survival. He suggested that Netanyahu is willing to "set the whole region ablaze" to retain power, further undermining peace prospects in the Middle East, especially with Iran.
In addition to the Gaza and Ukraine issues, Fidan discussed Turkey's role in mediating tensions between Israel and Iran. He noted that Erdogan had extended diplomatic overtures to both parties, offering to facilitate dialogue.
He also mentioned the potential for renewed diplomacy in Oman, which could pave the way for talks between the US and Iran. Despite the US’s insistence on a policy of "zero enrichment" for Iran, Fidan reiterated that Tehran maintains its right to peaceful nuclear energy.
