July 12, 2025Clash Report
In an official statement, the Israeli military claimed responsibility for the airstrike that killed a member of Hezbollah’s anti-tank unit in the Khiyam area. No further details were provided regarding the identity of the target, and Hezbollah has not commented on the incident.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that the strike hit a civilian home in Wati Khiyam, killing one individual. The Ministry of Health confirmed the casualty but refrained from releasing any identification.
The strike is part of a larger pattern of hostilities that have continued despite a ceasefire agreement reached between Hezbollah and Israel on November 27, 2024. Since the ceasefire, Israeli forces have allegedly violated the agreement more than 3,000 times, resulting in at least 239 deaths and over 550 injuries, according to official Lebanese data.
The Israeli military has repeatedly justified its operations in southern Lebanon as "special and focused missions" targeting Hezbollah’s combat infrastructure and weapons. Israeli forces continue to occupy five strategic Lebanese hills captured during the most recent war, alongside territories Israel has held for decades.
The wider conflict reignited in October 2023 and escalated into full-scale warfare by September 2024, causing over 4,000 deaths and leaving more than 17,000 injured. Despite the truce, localized strikes and mutual accusations continue to destabilize the border region.
