The Revolutionary Court affiliated with the Military Judiciary in Gaza has issued a ten-day ultimatum to Yasser Abu Shabab, calling on him to surrender to the relevant authorities for prosecution. The court’s statement, released on Wednesday, cites provisions from the Revolutionary Penal and Procedural Law of 1979.
Abu Shabab is accused of treason, collaborating with hostile entities in violation of Article 176, and armed rebellion under Article 168. The charges stem from his alleged leadership of an armed group said to be cooperating with Israeli forces, operating from the eastern regions of Rafah in southern Gaza.
Security sources in Gaza report that Abu Shabab’s gang has been involved in multiple killings of Palestinian civilians and targeted members of the resistance. The group is also accused of stealing humanitarian aid entering Gaza via the Kerem Shalom crossing.
Abu Shabab, born on February 27, 1990, had previously been detained by Gaza security forces on criminal charges but was released following Israeli airstrikes on security headquarters.
The court emphasized that failure to comply within the deadline will result in Abu Shabab being declared a fugitive. It also warned that anyone who knows his whereabouts and does not report him will be treated as harboring a criminal.
Gazan officials suggest that the Israeli military is using such armed factions to further its strategic goals, including undermining local resistance and deepening the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
