Trump Says Iran War Will End 'Very Soon'

U.S. President Donald Trump described the ongoing conflict in Iran as a “short-term excursion” on March 10, 2026, during remarks at a Republican conference in Miami, Florida. The president framed the campaign as necessary to eliminate what he termed “evil,” emphasizing the strength of U.S. military capabilities: “How good is our military, right? Amazing. How good? Short term. Short term.”

Trump said U.S. and Israeli forces are actively degrading Iran’s military infrastructure, claiming the country’s drone and missile capabilities are being utterly demolished. He added that the U.S. Navy has been destroyed, with 46 ships lying at the bottom of the ocean, while Iranian leaders have been repeatedly targeted in ongoing operations.

The U.S.-Israeli military campaign began on February 28, 2026, with strikes targeting Iranian bases, senior officials, and infrastructure. Casualty reports include over 1,200 killed, encompassing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, more than 150 schoolgirls, and multiple senior military commanders.

Trump argued that these operations prevented Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, stating, “If we didn't do that, they would have had a nuclear weapon within two weeks.” He stressed that the strikes will continue until Iran is “totally and decisively defeated.”

Iran has retaliated with missile and drone attacks against U.S. military bases, diplomatic facilities, personnel, and multiple Israeli cities. At least seven U.S. service members have been killed in these counterstrikes.
