In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, warned that Russia continues to regroup and prepare for fresh offensives on multiple fronts, particularly around Pokrovsk and Zaporizhzhia. He emphasized that Ukraine must remain in a constant state of readiness, regardless of peace talks or potential agreements, as Moscow has not abandoned its goal of seizing Ukrainian territory.
Syrskyi noted that Russia is concentrating on the Pokrovsk sector, recording around fifty enemy assault attempts daily, as well as shifting forces from Sumy to the Zaporizhzhia front. The aim, he explained, is to break through Ukrainian defenses and advance deeper into strategic areas. In recent clashes near Dobropillia, Russian forces advanced briefly, but Ukrainian countermeasures reversed the gains. The commander also pointed to enemy attempts in Novopavlivka and Lyman, although on a smaller scale.
Despite discussions about possible security guarantees or negotiations, Syrskyi underscored the necessity for Ukraine to strengthen its armed forces, modernize with high-tech weapons, and prepare for the possibility of renewed conflict. He warned that even during temporary truces, Russia has used pauses to regroup and rearm. Ukraine, he said, is responding by expanding the use of drones, robotic platforms, and artificial intelligence in combat, while also extending soldier training and implementing structural reforms in the military.
