Ukraine’s Armed Forces announced they struck the Borysoglebsk airfield in Russia’s Voronezh region in a continued effort to degrade Moscow’s ability to carry out airstrikes. The raid, conducted by special forces, reportedly hit a depot of glide bombs, a trainer aircraft, and potentially other military assets.

A Strategic Target Under Fire Again

The Borysoglebsk airbase is considered a strategic facility, hosting some of Russia's most advanced fighter jets. This is not the first time Ukraine has targeted it—Kyiv previously struck the site in 2024. The latest operation comes just a day after Russia launched what Ukrainian officials described as the war’s largest aerial assault to date.

Ukraine’s General Staff shared the news on the X platform but said the full results of the attack are still being assessed. Bloomberg noted it could not independently verify the claims, and Russian authorities had not officially commented on the strike as of Saturday.

Escalating Drone Warfare

Russia’s defense ministry stated that 34 drones were downed over Voronezh overnight. Regional mobile internet was reportedly disabled for security reasons, a recurring tactic in recent months. Meanwhile, Russia claimed to have shot down 94 drones across 15 regions, while Ukraine reported that Kremlin forces launched 322 drones hitting several regions, injuring at least a dozen civilians.
